Hi Sharon, I also lost my husband in January it will be two years. I also have wonderful children and grandchildren and family and friends-Just recently after a car accident the loneliness really set in and long for a relationship if possible-the men that are my age usually have health issues, not that I'm perfect but I'm into fitness and good nutrition. anyway wish you luck and health and a good year. sharon, after I lost my husband, one of the things that would help was to go take a shower and scream my head off and it helped. Also I refused to cry on anyone's shoulder because I knew instinctively that no one likes to hear about "doom and gloom". Only people who have lost can understand loss. My 4 girls are wonderful to me but I cannot adopt their lives as my own and you have to find a new life. Try to start dating again--let your friends fix you up. Chin up!
All my feelings go out to you--I remember and it's now almost 7 years since I lost him.
Sincerely, Jan

Dear Sharon,

The history of our people is the history of community and this site is no different. If each DoubleChai.com member were to bring 3 new members to the site and those new members were to bring 3 new members and so on, this site would soon serve every Jewish widow & widower. Just imagine our strength in numbers and our diversity of experience and how each of us could reach out to one another.

Please take a moment to follow the link below and invite the people you know (even if it is only one other person) who would find the DoubleChai.com community beneficial and inspiring to join the site.

I thank you in advance for your participation. Our future as a site and the services we hope to offer depends a great deal on our members reaching out to their real world contacts about DoubleChai.com.

Gratefully,
Harry

Hi Sharon; I just started reading the comments on this site and when I read yours, I could really identify. How I learned to cope with my married friends is to spend Saturday afternoons, or Sunday during the day with them. That way they still have the evenings to spend with married friends. I thought being in the house and alone on Saturdays would really disturb me but I find that I welcome the quiet, I can read the Sunday paper early and just relax. If you work, and I think you said you did, then that quiet 'me' time becomes somewhat of a luxury!
Hope to talk to you again soon.

not sure how to respond--You say you have lots of friends--be prepared for some of them to drop you. Start a singles club at your schul. My schul has done very little for jewish widowed single. It seems that married couples suddenly became afraid of me but I'm told by others that I look great for 72, and maybe that is why. But I would NEVER go aftera married man. How wants that tsurus! Look for Jdate on the internet. But be carweful--some people lie.And always meet for coffee first.
