Hi  Helene...My name is Roberta (Rivkah) from Staten Island. Where did you live on SI? My husband passed away suddenly in October, I am still in shock, but am trying to get by day by day, keeping busy. I am a newly retired teacher. I have 2 grown sons & 2 daughters in law. I love movies & dining out, reading, taking walks, good conversation. Write back, if you would like to communicate.

I live in Annadale. My sons are both teachers at Tottenville HS & went there as well...It's true, there are certain people I stopped hearing from; my bereavement counselor says women feel uncomfortable around widows. I keep busy as everyone says to do with lectures, classes, tutoring, reading etc, but I miss my husband so deeply, the conversations, the little jokes, sharing walks, movies, little trips together, etc. etc....nothing feels the same & you're right, time doesn't help...my older son had a degree in communications, tried to get jobs then went back to school for education...it would be nice if you lived in Huegonot, somehow I have some single friends who don't like to do much. i don't get it. Anyway, I'm here if you need to "talk". Do you ever get back to Staten Island?

In fact my older son lives in Springfield, NJ & I need to try to drive there myself...My older son teaches film production, my younger one phys. ed & health ed.. They are both Mr. Afflitto : ) My younger one is also a dean...Congratulations on the graduation, Luiginos is 5 minutes from my house!! You must feel sad having a party w/o your husband. I find it hard to experience any joyful moments w/o mine, even though I have lots to be thankful for...where did you grow up, Helene? I grew up in Brooklyn, coney island area, Lincoln High School. Stay well, Roberta

Pesach will be difficult w/o my husband in his usual chair. Also his birthday is coming up in May, I, too cry sometimes when it would be unexpected, the loss & emptiness is still excruciating. I keep very busy, but I don't really enjoy anything...What are you doing for the holiday? The kids will be here the second night...Stay well, have a good weekend (as much as you can)...Roberta

Let me know how it goes...Roberta
